Merry Christmas!

I just wanted to wish everyone a Merry Christmas!

Sorry, I haven't been posting lately....I was sick for 2 weeks, then I got busy with Christmas, and now I am overwhelmed at work. All I want to do when I get home is rest and spend time with my husband. :-)

One week!!

Well, Nathan and I are getting married one week from today!

Everything is pretty much done...I just need to get my nails done, iron Nathan's suit jacket, and make sure my dress is ready.

I am still hoping for great weather...it is supposed to be a high of 47 degrees and sunny, so hopefully that really happens.

I'm going to be a bridesmaid...

My friend, Stephanie, is getting married on Saturday, April 24, 2009 and I am going to be a bridemaid. I haven't bought mine or Nathan's plane ticket, yet, but I did buy my dress and shoes from David's Bridal over the weekend.

Here is the dress that I will be wearing...the same style and color.

And, here are the shoes...she wants us all the wear flats because she is only about 4'11" and she doesn't want her bridesmaids and Maid of Honor towering over her; which I can totally understand. These shoes will also be this color.

I plan on buying the plane tickets sometime in the next couple of weeks. I need to wait until I figure out how long it will take before my name change goes through.
I am hoping that I can save enough money to also go to Disneyland while we are out there, but I will have to wait and see.

Traditions

After reading my sister’s blog about her Christmas traditions, I wanted to post a blog about mine. There are a few that I’ve had since I was a kid, some that I started a few years back, and some that I plan on starting when Nathan and I move into our own place.

First off, Thanksgiving traditions:

~I have to have my mom’s stuffing!! She will not be here this Thanksgiving, so I have to make it myself. Hopefully, it comes out just as good.

~I also enjoy watching the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. I usually miss the first hour or so because I am sleeping, but I like to sit and watch whatever I can.

~Thanksgiving week, usually a day or two before, I like to make a homemade Pumpkin Pie and French Apple Pie. I like to make other goodies, too.

~BLACK FRIDAY!! I really enjoy going shopping early on Black Friday. My mom and I use to do this every year, but when I moved out and started working at the Disney Store, I had to work that morning, so I’ve missed out on the sales the past few years. However, I plan on going shopping this year, even if I don’t buy anything, I am still going!

Christmas Traditions:

~My mom and I use to decorate for Christmas the day of or after Thanksgiving. We use to go to my great grandma’s house for Thanksgiving lunch and then come home and start decorating; then we would eat some leftovers and go to sleep early, so we could get some rest for Black Friday. I will start decorating for Christmas the weekend of Thanksgiving when Nathan and I move into our own place.

~I have to watch Christmas movies when I wrap presents. I usually start shopping in June or July and I put all the presents away and then start wrapping them in November after I buy new wrapping paper.

~When I was little, I use to watch the cartoon version of “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” ever Christmas Eve. Now, as long as I watch it sometime around Christmas, I am happy.

~The TV station, T.B.S., always runs “A Christmas Story” for 24 hours starting on Christmas Eve, and I usually watch it sometime Christmas Day.

~One presents gets opened on Christmas Eve.

~Bake cookies on Christmas Eve.

~Buy an ornament that someone reflects the past year.

Traditions I want to start up when Nathan and I move:

~Decorate for Christmas during Thanksgiving weekend, while listening to Christmas music.

~Continue the opening of one present on Christmas Eve. When we have kids, I want their one gift to be new pajamas, so they have cute and new PJs for their Christmas pictures (I am taking that tradition from my sister).

I can’t think of any new traditions that I want to start at the moment, but I am sure that there will be plenty in the future.

4 more weeks!!

Only four more weeks until I get married! I am getting more and more anxious by the day. Granted, I haven't lost nearly as much weight as I wanted, but I am still hopeful that I will look nice in my dress.

Everything is pretty much done. I just need to buy my sister's bouquet and the wine for the toast. Oh, and I need to pick up Nathan's suit jacket next week once it is done, but other than that, I am ready to walk down the aisle. Okay, not quite...I still need to have my mom do something to my dress, get a manicure and pedicure, and find someone to do my make-up, but I will have a few more weeks, plus, most of that stuff has to wait until it gets closer to the date.

Well, it seems like I have been waiting forever for this day, so I am glad that it is only four weeks away! :-)

Wedding Nightmares!

It's not as bad as it sounds, but, yes, I am having wedding day nightmares. No, they're not about the idea of getting married or that I think I am making a mistake...they are small things that I worry about. Take a look at what I have been having nightmares about:

~My wedding dress is wrinkled before I walk down the aisle.
~The decorations fall off the wall, look bad, or that I don't have enough.
~My cake isn't assembled correctly or looks ugly.
~My hair looks like crap.
~The road to the venue is closed, due to snow.
~We can't take pictures outside because there is a snow storm.
~The food tastes nasty.
~I forget something very important, like: the rings, marriage license (oh crap, I need to go get that soon!!), etc.
~My professional pictures come out blurry.
~The DJ loses the CD I made.
~I trip when walking down the aisle.
~The colors on the flowergirls, Maid of Honor, and Best Man don't match.
~My make-up is all messed up or my face breaks out.
~My dress gets dirty on the way to the venue.

I have more little things that I am worrying about, but those are what I think about the most. I am looking forward to getting married and having this wedding in 5 weeks, but I will breathe easier once it is over and everything goes smoothly...hopefully!

Update on moving

Nathan and I decided not to move to Florida...we will be moving to Montana the second week in May of 2009. We plan on moving to Great Falls, Montana, getting jobs, and then eventually buying land out there.

Nathan wants to move in March after we both get out income tax money, but I want to stay until May because I don't want to have to ask for time off from a new job when Nathan and I fly out to California in April to go to my friends wedding. He agreed, so the plan is our last day of work here in Colorado will be May 15th and we will be moving that weekend.

Between the two of us saving and the money from our income taxes, we should have enough money to move, get a place, and live off of until we both find jobs.

First snowfall

Well, I woke up this morning to the ground covered in snow. I knew that it was supposed to snow, but it's still exciting to actually see the beautiful white snow covering the ground and trees. However, it was freezing this morning!! I had to stand outside for about 10 minutes in the freezing wind and with snow covering my shoes because I had to figure out how to get the frozen water and snow off of my car windows, so I could see where I was going. I have this pathetic window scrapper that didn't do much and the de-icer washer fluid that I put in my car wasn't working. I finally got enough off to see what I was doing while I drove to work.

I love this wintery weather, but I definitely need to invest in warmer clothes and a much better window scrapper.

Fall is among us in Colorado....

It is currently 37 degrees outside here in Colorado Springs and the high is only supposed to be 45 degrees. The weather is suppose to get a little warmer the next few days, but them srop down again. We might even get a little rain, maybe even some snow, tonight.

I am at work right now, with my heater on under my desk.

I love the cold weather, but it's hard for me to stay warm. I can't wait until we can use the fireplace at the house...only a couple of more weeks and the snow season will be here.

Happy 4th Birthday!

Today, my youngest niece turns 4-years-old. She is growing up so fast. I miss her so much! I hope she has a wonderful birthday!

It's official!!

My mom sent me the itineraries for my grandparents, my sister, and two nieces....so, it's official, they are coming in December to mine and Nathan's wedding!! YAY!!! I am so excited.

Jaime will be my Maid of Honor and my nieces will be my flower girl and ring bearer. I am not sure which niece will be the flower girl and ring bearer, but I will have to figure that out soon. The ring bearer is not the typical ring bearer; she will be holding a blue snowflake basket, with a white pillow stuffed inside, and attached to the pillow is a small silver Cinderella carriage, and the rings will be placed in the carriage. I think I will have my older niece be the ring bearer because it is a more important job and the rings are very important. I just hope she is not disappointed that she is not the flower girl.

I have also picked out my make-up and hairstyle...Jaime, my sister, has also picked her hairstyle from a few pictures that I sent her. It is a nice style...she will look gor-ga-mis!!

Happy 7th Birthday!

Today, my niece turned 7-years-old! I can not believe how big she is getting. I remember, just yesterday, when she was shaking her little butt everytime my mom would make the sound "da-da-da-da-da" in this distinctive melody.

I really miss her and I hope she has a wonderful birthday!

Two months to go

There is only 2 months left before my wedding, and I really need to lose some weight. I want to lose 10lbs and tone up my back, arms, and tummy. I currently weigh 143 lbs and I want to look good in my wedding dress. Last time I tried it on, my back fat was really bothering me and I wasn't exactly the size I want to be. So, I am going to start snacking on more healthy snacks, make better food choices, and exercise more.

I know that Thanksgiving is just around the corner, and I really enjoy eating all those yummy foods, but I will just have to eat more of the healthier stuff, like turkey and mashed potatoes, and make myself full, so I don't overindulge on the junk food.

So, wish me luck...and for those of you coming to my wedding, I hope when you see me in my dress, I look pretty and skinnier.

Moving

Nathan and I talked last night and despite how upset my mom will be, we will be moving to Florida sometime next year; probably in May. Here is the plan, even though I am not too fond of moving to Florida, I will give it a chance, since I’ve never lived there or experienced that part of Florida that he wants to move to. So, I told Nathan that I will give Florida a chance for two years and if I still don’t like it and want to live there, then we will move somewhere else; he agreed. If Florida doesn’t work out, we move to a state that I want to try out…Montana. I would love the open space, mountains, four seasons, and country feel that Montana has.

Nathan and I are getting married and we plan on starting a family someday, so we need to learn to compromise; with that, I am giving in to what he really wants and trying something new. I will keep you all up-to-date on when we are deciding to move and where we will be living. Stay tuned…

P.S. Sorry momma, I know you wanted me to move closer and not further away...

Officially Halloween-time!!

Okay, now that it's officially October, we can all start planning for Halloween. I don't have any current plans, but that might change. I am excited that the holiday seasons have finally started. Now, when I go into Walmart, Walgreens, and all those other stores, I can look at the Halloween stuff and have it finally feel like it is Halloween. Plus, the weather here in Colorado is starting to change...which I love! The leaves on the trees are changing to those beautiful fall colors, the air is cool and crisp, and I am starting to drink hot tea to stay warm. Man, I love fall and I'm looking forward to winter in a few months. I can't wait until the first snowfall of the season.

The Holidays with the family

This year for Thanksgiving and Christmas I will be away from my family back home in California. I will, however, be with Nathan and his family here in Colorado. But, I think that I am going to plan a trip back to California next Thanksgiving.

Thanksgiving is my second favorite holiday and I absolutely love spending that specific holiday with my mom. We have our own traditions that I have missed out the past few years. Some of my favorite traditions are:

~Making desserts
~Going to my grandma's ranch
~Seeing all the family
~Decorating for Christmas that weekend

But, I think the tradition that I miss the most is when me and my mom would get up early at go shopping on Black Friday. That was always so much fun...cold!!...but, nonetheless, a lot of fun. I also really miss the Christmas craft shows that we use to do together.

I would really love to go to my Auntie Drina's house for Thanksgiving. She lives in a beautiful town that has this essence about it that makes anyone feel at home.

I think that since I am spending this holiday season with Nathan and his family that we should both fly to California next year for Thanksgiving. What do you think? That would make me very happy...to be able to go home and see all my family during a very happy time of year. Plus, I get to eat all the yummy food!! :-)

Ouch!!

Well, here is the aftermath of my fall....

You can kind of see the bruise on my nose in this picture, but you can really see the bump that is still on the top. Oh, and the dark spot under my eye is NOT a bruise, it is just a shadow.

My knees hurt the worst...I can hardly walk.

Not only is my chin bruised at the bottom, but it is also rug burned and the inner lower part of my lip is busted open.

I am doing better, just healing now. This will teach me never to crawl over a baby gate to get down the stairs....well, to be perfectly honest with you, being a klutz runs in my family, so one way or another I always end up hurting myself...this was just the worst by far.

Clumsy Me

I have always been the one to run into walls, trip over my own feet, and accidently cut or burn myself when cooking. But, I've never once seriously hurt myself from being clumsy. Well, last night was one for the books...I fell down the stairs!

That's right, I fell full force down about eight stairs!

There is a baby gate at the top of the stairs to keep the cat from going up there because she likes to pee on our beds. Well, I was climbing over it and my pants somehow got caught on it and I fell face first down the stairs. I don't remember much after that....

I woke up in a lot of pain on the couch where Nathan had moved me. He said I was knocked out for about 30 seconds and I wasn't moving. He checked to make sure my arms, legs, back, and neck weren't broken and then rolled me over and picked me up off the floor.

I layed there on the couch with my head throbbing, knees hurting, and mouth bleeding. Nathan and his mom thought it would be a good idea to take me to the hospital. So, Nathan drove me to the emergency room....after only about an hour in the hospital and a CAT scan later, they released me. I had a major concussion, bruised and cut up knees, a swollen nose, bruised chin with rug burn, a cut up lower lip on the inside, muscle soreness in both arms and lower back, and a major headache.

I am still in a lot of pain and my head hurts really bad, but I am okay. I just need to take it easy and have Nathan keep an eye on me because I still have dizzy spells and I am very tired. I just wanted to let everyone know what happened and that I am okay.

Cinderella! Cinderella!

Last time I checked my job title was Receptionist/Legal Assistant; nowhere did it say that I was the office maid. I feel like I was hired to clean up after everyone. Not only do I HAVE to clean the coffee pot, coffee area, straighten up the restrooms, and keep all other areas clean...I now have to clean the freakin' dishes BEFORE I put them in the dishwasher. How stupid is that? Then, this morning when I came in to work, I went to put the dishes away and there were more dirty dishes in the sink. I had just cleaned the kitchen and made sure that all the dishes were in the dishwasher last night. COME ON PEOPLE!! Clean up after yourself!

Sorry, there is my little rant about the messing people I work with...and most of them are attorneys.

Christmas Countdown

As of today, there are only 3 months left until Christmas! Yes, I have already started the countdown. Actually, I started on July 25th while watching "Christmas in July" on QVC. I love Christmas time...that is my time of year. I have already started my shopping list, budget, and I've even bought a few gifts already. I am getting excited just talking about it. I know that it's not even Halloween officially (October starts in a few days), but still, I just love Christmas. I even enjoy how there are a few stores out there that already have some of their Christmas decorations out. I also bought my Christmas cards. They are very cute! Well, just so you all know....only 90 days until Christmas, so only 89 more shopping days left! Go shopping and be Merry!!

First Post

Well, thanks to my loving sister, my blog is finally up and running. She will have to help me post some pictures and add a little more personality to the blog, but overall I am excited to have my own blog. I feel that this will be a good place to write any updates, thoughts, and even a few rants about the things that happen in my life. I truly love reading my sister's and momma's blog, so I hope you all will enjoy reading mine as well.

Check back later for more posts....
